Udupi: The Udupi district unit of the Bharatiya Christa Okkoota on Thursday urged Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa to provide adequate protection to the churches in the State. In a memorandum submitted to Deputy Commissioner P. Hemalatha here, the okkoota stated that there were continuous attacks on churches in the State last year.
The State Government, which woke up only after the attacks, had promised that the culprits would be punished and steps taken to prevent recurrence of such incidents.In the last one month, the attacks on churches had become a daily feature. Mr. Yeddyurappa should take immediate steps to protect them, it said.
