Udupi, February 7, 2010 : Belapu Grama Panchayath president, JDS district president Deviprasad Shetty voiced his protest against the proposed project of Muloor thermal plant by stating that harsh protest will be launched to halt it.

The villagers have been opposing from the day 1 against the coal based thermal power plant at Muloor. The wide area which is proposed for the project comes under Belapu Gram Panchayath limit. No question of compromising for the project. The villagers and leaders of this region have already gathered on February 7 and discussed to finalize the sketch of agitation, he said.

A few people representatives are acting as middlemen by endowing their influences for setting up of the project, he expressed his grief. He also urged the concerned authorities to inform the villagers about the project.
