Ankola, November 2: Famous folk artist and Nadoja Award winner, Sukri Bommu Gowda has bagged Nudisiri 2009 award.

Sukri Bommu Gowda is from Badageri village. She has already bagged several awards like, State award, ‘Janapada Shri’, ‘Nadoja’ award. She is a folk artist from her childhood and is famous as folk cuckoo. She is also specialized in herbal medicine and had taken part in several protests.
Collecting fire wood and its sales is the only means for her life. Though she has won several awards, she is not free form poverty.
Now is trying to build her own shelter with the help of 1,00,000 granted by V R Deshpande Memorial Trust, and also with the help of Rs.10,000 granted by littérateur Vishnu Naik.
She will get the Nudisiri Award on November 8th, at Kannada Nadu Nudi National conference which will be held at Moodubidire from November 6th to 8th.
I have not searched for any award, but they themselves came into my doorsteps, she happily told.
Ravindra Naik, the president of District Backward category forum, convener and advocate Umesh Naik, Taluk Youth Union President Nagaraja M, Taluk welfare forum president Pavan L Naik, Secretary Ajeya R Naik felicitated her.
